3 Trails You’ll Love for Hiking Near Indianapolis

Starkey Park

Zionsville is an excellent location for a weekend getaway, and not just because it’s close to downtown Indianapolis. Our area boasts beautiful state parks that give you the chance to reconnect with nature. One of our favorite places to hike is Starkey Park. Here, you can explore 80 acres of pristine land with a beautiful hiking section that connects to the Big-4 Rail Trail. Breathe in the fresh air, admire the creek, and take time to listen the sound of birds chirping as the sun shines on your face. Starkey Park is open year-round from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Creekside Nature Park

Another wonderful option for hiking near Indianapolis can be found at Creekside Nature Park. This 18-acre park is home to a lovely recreational trail system, including a 0.6-mile handicap-accessible pathway that runs from the parking lot to Eagle Creek. We highly recommend packing a picnic basket and enjoying a scenic lunch by the water! The park is open year-round from dawn to sunset.

Turkeyfoot Nature Park

Turkeyfoot Nature Park is a particularly popular choice for hiking and biking. This 23-acre park features stunning trails that wind through the woods and along the creek. Enjoy a scenic walk or ride, or check out some of the fishing spots along the trail. You can even embark on a fun and relaxing adventure via canoe during the warmer months. Turkeyfoot Nature Park is open year-round from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
